Today I got 23 text messages.
8 phone calls.
18 e mails.
two friendly visitors.
Interviewed two prospective employees.
One plumbing inspection.
Two unwelcome visitors.
Four of those calls were sales calls, and two had been told to never call me.
But each and every person I came in contact with asked me about ten questions each.!!!!!
Only one person showed up to work today, Misael. Who speaks no English and not much Spanish. I will refer all questions to him from now on.
Out of curiosity, why do you always seem so grumpy in your posts on here? I must say, the tone of some of your posts makes me question whether I actually want to eat at your restaurant when it opens.
Touché! You are right. I do let it out. Really did not think anybody was reading this. Sorry. I have been putting together a very lovely staff that more than makes up for my crankiness. For the record I am happy when I am cooking!
I would wager that quite a few people who are interested in your restaurant are reading this blog. That’s why I’m here, as I’m in the neighborhood and am (or was…) looking forward to checking out your place when it’s ready.
However, a good portion of your posts tend to be you getting exasperated because people are curious when Ba will start serving, etc. Don’t you understand that it’s natural for people to be curious? It shows that they’re excited about a restaurant like this in Highland Park. Embrace that, even if it means you spend a little more time every day answering questions.
I get that you’re happy when you’re cooking, but you also have to understand that as the public face of the restaurant, people are going to ask questions of you. Welcome the attention, or you run the risk of turning off people.
Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsey can be grumpy too and people love them lol. I actually enjoyed reading this blog because James keeps it real. I do agree that some may be turned off by his posts but not me.
Can’t wait to try ba!
